When the Titans released Derrick Henry it appeared for a moment that Spears might run away with the Tennessee running game going forward, but then the addition of free agent Tony Pollard on a three-year, $21.75 million deal introduced a new obstacle. The good news for Spears' fantasy value is that, while Pollard might block Spears from taking a true workhorse role, it's also true that Pollard isn't built to shoulder a workhorse burden on his own. In other words, the Titans likely need both Spears and Pollard to play and produce in 2024, both because Spears is a little light at 200 pounds and because Pollard's efficiency suffered when he was elevated to a starting role in 2023. As much as a workload split would limit the upside of both players, it might also be what's necessary to keep them both healthy for the whole year. Spears' floor is especially assured in leagues with PPR scoring, because he showed top-shelf pass-catching potential as a rookie, including running advanced routes downfield. It's possible that Pollard might see slightly more rushing usage than Spears, but even if that happens there's a good chance Spears offsets the issue by claiming slightly more of the targets up for grabs. Spears' 52 catches on 70 targets was impressive given the state of the 2023 Titans passing game, and his 453 yards on 100 carries wasn't bad either.
